With this new responsibility, we recognize the weight of leadership that comes at a time of profound challenges and pivotal moments for both our country and the global community.
As you step into this critical role, Canadians are looking for leadership grounded in principles. The Muslim community in Canada has made its priorities abundantly clear. We are united in our call for Canada to take a firm stance for justice, human rights and international law as it relates to the situation in Gaza and its implications on our civil liberties in Canada. We seek leadership that recognizes the urgency of the humanitarian crisis, advocates for an end to the illegal occupation, and works to hold accountable those responsible for war crimes. This is not just a foreign policy issue – it is one that resonates deeply with us here in Canada, where Canadians have long fought for justice, human rights, and dignity.
The Canadian Muslim Public Affairs Council (CMPAC) stands ready to work with your government to ensure that Canada’s foreign policy reflects the values of equality, justice, and the unwavering support for Palestinians’ right to self-determination and freedom. We remain committed to advocating for policies that address the root causes of violence and occupation, and we continue to call for tangible action from the Canadian government.
